As COVID-19 canceled, postponed, and generally threw a big wrench in everyone’s life, PROMPT training was delayed for some speech-language pathologists in the North Liberty office. Now, eight Enrichment Therapy & Learning Center speech-language pathologists are PROMPT trained.
What Is PROMPT?
PROMPT is a therapy technique that assists speech production at the sound, word, phrase, and sentence level. PROMPT uses touch cues for various facial muscles involved in speech production. These cues give students tactile input that can improve the placement of the jaw, lips, and tongue for speech production. PROMPT is an evidence-based technique that can be used to treat:
- Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
- Speech-sound disorders
- Phonological disorders
- Expressive language disorders
Why PROMPT?
Your speech-language pathologist at ETLC may use PROMPT as part of your child’s therapy. There are many different approaches to treat the above-mentioned disorders, and we are proud that we are now all equipped with this therapy technique to help your child reach their goals. If you have questions about PROMPT, ask your speech-language pathologist!
