Snow Dough: A Science Experiment

Enrichment Therapies

Last week in the LEAP room, we did a fun science experiment where we created snow dough! This is a very easy experiment that is sure to entertain kids of all ages. You’ll need:

  • 16 oz. corn starch (put in the freezer overnight to make it extra cold and “snowy”)
  • ~10 oz. unscented body lotion (put in refrigerator overnight to make it cold)
  • Optional: a couple drops of peppermint extract
  • Optional: iridescent glitter
  • pipe cleaners, pom poms, sticky eyes, and any other embellishments you have on hand

Instructions: Pour the corn starch into a large mixing bowl. Add the unscented body lotion, and peppermint extract, and glitter, if desired. Mix with your hands until the desired consistency is reached. It should form together like play dough after kneading it for a minute or two. That’s it! Enjoy playing with your snow dough! You can roll 3 spheres, stack them together, and add embellishments to make a snowman, or use cookie cutters to create holiday shapes.
